Blue Ink "Plates"

Experimenting with coloured ink at the moment. I had the idea to make a repeating pattern out of houses at the start of the year and, luckily, wrote everything down so that I could come back to it when I had time.

I've been studying printmaking this year and would have liked to do these as linocut prints but I don't have access to a press outside of class time. In the end I just used paintbrushes.

Emilio's Suit #1

I've been meaning to post some new stuff for a few weeks now but today I finally retrieved my laptop from its drawer. After fighting with expired anti-virus software, a perilously low battery and updates (so, so many updates) I gave up and used Matt's computer instead.

I would say that I'm about halfway through drawing this. There are seven other panels that I've finished but haven't scanned, and the rest are just sketches at this stage.

This is the second version of Emilio's Suit. My first attempt at it was in 2012, and I didn't finish it. I got pretty close, but then I had one of those annoying realisations that you only get after you look at something you've created a few months after the fact and you can see that the effect isn't exactly what you had in mind in the beginning. And then (if you are anything like me) you swear at it and stuff it into a bin. This version is better because it's more in line with my style of drawing than the first version, which was my attempt to be less cartoony.

In Progress - Silent Book Contest

I'm currently working on an entry for another contest:

http://www.silentbookcontest.com/www.silentbookcontest.com/index-2015-ENG.html

The entry has to be a full layout for a picture book without text, which means that my usual approach to planning is not going to cut it. At this point it's going to be 32 pages long (and that's only as of yesterday - it was supposed to only be 24 pages) and I'm up to page 14. So, probably not working on much else for the rest of the year.

New Artwork - Procrasteanation

Most days I make a cup of tea to avoid making difficult decisions about drawings.
