Artwork In Progress - Biodiversity

After reading that the process of making art can be as interesting as the finished product, I’ve made more of an effort to record what I do.
At the moment I’m working on a large format (A1) typography. Let me just say that getting A1 paper is a pain in the arse. Once a year I take a train into the CBD specifically to get the right sort of A1 paper (I think that it’s about 250 gsm) from a snooty art supplies shop. Last time I was there I spent about $100 on paper just so I could put as much time between then and the next paper-buying mission as possible. Geez! I can’t even think about it without getting my rage on!
Anyway, the word is “biodiversity”. I worked each letter out on drafting paper first:

The inking is my favourite step. It’s much easier to see whether something is working once all the lines have been filled in:

Each letter is different, so getting the whole thing to look balanced was a bit tricky. There are individual letters that I really like but I’m not sure what I think of it as a whole just yet.

New Artwork - You Are What You Eat

There’s a little bit of “you are what you eat” to this but it became more about being consumed by what you eat and don’t eat, which is why the poor girl has no legs and only one arm. I’ve had to sit through a fair number of food crime confessions and I just can’t be bothered with that rubbish.
